White Longan is a special type or marketed variant of the longan fruit (Dimocarpus longan), a tropical fruit in the soapberry family known for its sweet, juicy taste and translucent flesh surrounding a dark seed. The fruit typically has a thin outer shell that you peel off to reveal white or very light‑coloured juicy flesh inside, which is fragrant and sweet with a mild musky flavour. Because of the contrast between the clear/white flesh and dark seed, longan is often called “dragon’s eye.” The tree is evergreen and thrives in warm, humid climates, and the fruit is eaten fresh, added to desserts, drinks, salads, or even canned.
